If you eat food, you qualify!

Angel Food Ministries (AFM) a is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that already provides low-cost groceries to many of our neighbors in the Grand Prairie area. AFM provides this service in countless communities throughout the United States. The program, which began in 1994, in Monroe, Georgia, with 34 families, now serves hundreds of thousands of families each month across 35 states.

Angel Food's monthly unit of groceries can fit into a medium-sized box and is sold for $30 per unit. Each month's menu varies from the previous month's and consists of packaged, fresh and frozen items with a retail value of approximately $60. Typically, one unit assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. There are no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.

Each month, AFM also offers - for additional costs - specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. This provides participants with a range of choices. There is no limit to the number of basic units or specialty foods that an individual can purchase. Better still, there is no application to complete or qualifications to meet. Also, AFM, like most retail grocery stores, participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.

If you choose to take advantage of the Angel Food program, click here for this month's menu. If you know someone who would benefit from this program, we encourage you to share this information. If you live outside of Grand Prairie, there may be a distribution site closer to you. Click here to search for other AFM sites. PLEASE NOTE: Since we do not have storage facilities, food not picked up during the prescribed time on distribution day will be forfeited and donated.

To order your Angel Food in-person, contact one of the local host sites (below). Though distribution day is the same for all host sites, ordering deadlines may be earlier for some. Be sure to ask about deadlines when you call. click here to order Angel Food on-line.
